The logic circuitry for a 4-bit multiplexer is shown  in the following figure. As you can see, the multiplexer is constructed  using 2-bit multiplexers. Every 2-bit multiplexer accepts two bits, one  control line, and an "enabled" line. The last module accepts the output  from the previous multiplexers, and outputs the result. The first contol  line goes to the two first multiplexers and the second control line goes  to the last multiplexer.
