As of May 2010, I have returned from a Post-doctoral stay at the HCIL lab, at the University of Maryland at College Park, USA, where I have done research on network analysis and visualization. I am again a non-tenured Professor at the EPS-UAM.
Research
See the research page for more on
my interests, publications and past and present research activities.
I am currently working on network analysis and visualization. My PhD thesis topic was clustered graph visualization, which I applied to Adaptive Hypermedia (AH) courses, device network visualization, concept maps and similarity analysis. The clustered graph visualization framework I developed, Clover, is available online, as is the Wotan AH
course system, for which a Clover-based editor was developed as part of my PhD thesis. I am also very proud of my work in the AC anti-plagiarism system.
I am a member of the OPAH group,
which is part of the larger GHIA
group. I am also a participant in the HADA project, directed to help
disabled and elderly enjoy the benefits of technology. My professional association memberships include both IEEE and ACM.
Teaching at UAM
- Algorithm Analysis: course labs 2008-2009 and 05-06.
- Object-oriented Programming: course labs during 07-08, 06-07, 05-06, 04-05, 03-04 and 02-03.
- Computer Networks II: course labs during 05-06.
- Operating Systems II: course labs during 05-06, 04-05, 03-04 and 02-03.
- TACC2 (Object-Oriented Programming 2): course labs during 04-05.
- The Art of Contest Programming: course labs 2008-2009 and 2003-04 to 2007-08.
The Art of Contest Programming is open to all UAM students. Its goal is to teach programming-contest skills, useful in such contests such as ACM-ICPC and, at a regional level, CUPCAM (where our teams have a great track record). These contests are both instructive and fun. Join the team!
