I am a lecturer (equivalent to Assistant Professor in North America) at Queen Mary, University of London. My current research includes multimedia signal processing, perceptual semantics and interactive media computing. In particular, I am interested in audiovisual content analysis and performance evaluation with application in advanced surveillance, semantic coding and multi-sensor systems. Among other technical activities, I am an elected member of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, Multimedia Signal Processing Technical Committee (term: Jan 2006 - Dec 2009), General Chair of the IEEE International Conference on Advanced Video and Signal based Surveillance (AVSS 2007), Chair of the 2007 BMVA symposium on Security and Surveillance: performance evaluation; Technical co-chair of the European Signal Processing Conference (EUSIPCO 2008), Guest Editor of the Special Issue on 'Multi-sensor object detection and tracking', Signal, Image and Video Processing Journal (Springer) and co-Guest Editor of the Special Issue on 'Video Tracking in Complex Scenes for Surveillance Applications', Journal of Image and Video Processing.
