Abstract

We describe work conducted to explore issues related to human-computer interaction (HCI) and computer-supported cooperative work (CSCW) in the development of digital libraries. In this context, we have designed and prototyped environments that facilitate collaboration among distributed users while still responding to their specific individual needs and preferences. The results of the work include a model driven approach, operational interfaces for large information spaces and collaborative environments for an actual digital library which is part of a large federation of digital collections.
