Libraries

Abstract
We describe work conducted to explore issues related to
human-computer interaction (HCI) and computer-supported
cooperative work (CSCW) in the development of digital
libraries. In this context, we have designed and prototyped
environments that facilitate collaboration among distributed
users while still responding to their specific individual
needs and preferences. The results of the work include
a model driven approach, operational interfaces for large information
spaces and
collaborative environments for an actual digital library
which is part of a large federation of digital collections.

Department of Computer Science at the University of Rome La Sapienza.
His research interests include Human Computer Interaction, Digital
Libraries and Visual Languages. In his past activity he focused on
theory and algorithms for pattern recognition and machine learning.
During 2003/2004 he was interning student and then visiting researcher
at the XEROX PARC (Palo Alto Research Center, Palo Alto, CA, USA) in
the ISTL (Information Science and Technology) Lab working in Human
Document Interaction.
He received his MSc in computer science from the University of Rome
La Sapienza.
